POLMUN stands for Polish Model United Nations. It is a three-day conference organized for academic students. During each edition, POLMUN attracts about 120 participants from all around the world.
The United Nations Model Format (MUN) is a United Nations conference simulation that is held entirely in English. Participants discuss issues emerging in the world with the real UN procedures and in line with the principles of the Diplomatic Protocol. As part of the simulation, participants select the committees and the topic, which culminates in a joint document on the issues raised. To achieve the highest level of professionalism of each participant, a thematic study guide is prepared for the subject matter.
The simulation will take place at the Warsaw School of Economics and other universities in Warsaw, which make up the Organizing Committee consisting of students from different academic backgrounds. Each year the inauguration and the closing ceremony are held in places symbolic for Warsaw, such as the Palace of Culture and Science, the Senate of the Republic of Poland or the building of the Polish Ministry of Development.
POLMUN creates an excellent platform for meeting young people from the region, which has resulted in many collaborations and new projects at local and international level.
